Introduction

Chronic infection of subcutaneous tissue with purulent drainage, caused by infected trauma.

Etiology
  • actinomycetes
  • fungi (mycetoma, eumycetoma)
Clinical signs
  • chronic induration
  • purulent discharge from subcutaneous sinuses
  • pus may contain actinomycotic granules
  • deformation of the extremity, possible bone damage
