Hidradenitis axillaris (suppurativa)
Introduction

Affects axillary sweat glands. Deep, painful nodules formed by purulent inflammation (usually folliculitis). Heals by scarring. Recurrences are common.

Similar disease, sometimes considered synonymic: acne inversa.

Histology

Foci of dense neutrophilic infiltrate deep within the dermis, near the sweat glands.
