Etiology
  • G- aerobic immotile rod
  • infection by direct contact, dust or tick
  • invasion through skin microtraumas or mucous membranes
  • pulmonary form by inhalation
  • highly contagious
  • incubation period 2 – 5 days
Clinical signs
  • ulceration
  • lymphadenitis
  • hematogenic dissemination (spleen, liver)
  • untreated generalized infection have up to 30% mortality, local (ulcerations) about 2%
Histology

Granulomatous and purulent infection, caseification.
